I did a session for my cousin Keith & his wife, Brenda for the holidays. We tried out my studio set up to start with and then did some shooting in my backyard and near my home. It was a cold day but their dog Chloe enjoyed it….I enjoyed the hot chocolate afterwards!!!
I don’t think I have ever spontaneously cracked up while editing as much as I did while working on Melisa & Bryan’s photos from their goofy engagement session. I mean, apples were hitting their heads! How could I not?! Check out the super fun happy….ness… that is Melisa & Bryan. I’m looking forward to photographing them again for a weekend next June.
Rachel and *ahem* Andy are my second set of Florida clients….that just happened to be having their wedding back home in Michigan. We did their engagement session in November…and we got a little rained on at one point but I think their images turned out great. {Even if Andy would have rather have been hunting}.
I did this entire shoot on my home office/studio grounds and within walking distance (er…running-in-the-rain-distance). I won’t be shooting here all the time because I like to explore new places, but its definitely available to those who want it. I’ll be using my indoor set tomorrow for my cousins Brenda & Keith and their holiday portraits!
Here is what Rachel had to say after seeing their gallery, “We just looked at the pictures and we absolutely LOVE them! Thank you so much. You do such wonderful work.” I can’t wait to shoot these two again at their June 13th wedding next year. Thanks for coming to meet with me you guys!
Amanda and Greg came over on a chilly day to shoot their engagement session in some places I had scouted out nearby…the result…warm and fantastic images! Check out my favs…you’ll see more of them next July when they tie the knot!
Sneak, sneakaroo for these two! We were lucky enough to get the last warm day of fall for their engagement session last week. We won’t have to worry quite as much when we do their wedding in June next year.
I met Annie back in my Advanced Photography (& new media) class at OU…..and she met Dan back in high school….and they have been together ever since! I wanted to show the most different and unique shot that I got of them (which is what I often do for sneak peeks)…so here it is. Dan is a gearhead and he had a vintage car that we spontaneously used for the photoshoot since I learned that is one thing Annie really likes about him….

I have had a lot of engagement sessions lately and some coming up too. These two have been living in Florida but are coming up to Michigan to have their wedding next August. Here is the sneak peek from Rachel & Andy’s session that I did in my ‘own backyard’ {or I guess, close to it!}. We got rained on but I got creative and we still got a full session in. Not a whole lot of light to work with but the sky was nice!
I shot Amanda & Greg’s engagement session today…I hooked up with these two through Amelia, Amanda’s sister, who was in water polo with me during freshman year at GVSU. Today I am out shooting Michelle & Brandon’s wedding down in Farmington Hills. I photographed their not-so-mini engagement session earlier this year, and since I haven’t posted those pics on the new blog yet…here are some faces you can expect to see again real soon!

I’m really loving doing engagement sessions, they are fun to shoot, a great way to get to know my clients before their big day, and I’m finding I really enjoy editing them too. Rachel and Bryan are getting married on December 6th this year…here is their summer engagement session. Be prepared to scroll…I had lots of favorites (as always).
We shot in a lot of locations- downtown urban, a little park, Rachel’s parent’s yard overlooking the lake, and in a super secret location that I scouted out in the middle of summer. Got some AMAZING stuff in there! Lets start with a little of that. =)

I literally grabbed one shot of these two couples. They were at the bridal show I was shooting for a week ago Sunday taking their own engagement pics! I hope they remembered my web address!
I met up with Kari & Tim recently for their {Just be IN LOVE} engagement session. They were a great couple to be around, and so obviously in love. Since they were so comfortable and relaxed with each other, it showed off well for their photos! It probably helped that Tim was crackin’ jokes left and right,…it wasn’t a dull 2 hours.
I really encourage engagement sessions, it is such a great way to get to know a couple so we’re not strangers on the biggest day of your life. I also offer a special deal which I don’t talk about a lot…if we meet up to talk about your wedding, and you book me on the spot with a deposit, I will give you a complimentary 15 minutes {IN LOVE} session…right then and there. Totally love this one ^. Props to Kari for wearing not only heels, but RED heels which are absolutely fabulous. I actually used this pic in my rotating image header up at the top of the blog.

I tend to focus on the girls a lot in the photoshoots {well…they are the only ones that can wear killer heels} so I was glad I got Tim up front for a couple too. Look at those icy blue eyes!
I almost didn’t use this set because I’ve seen it done by many others {same with the red barn…but…whatever}. But these two were wearing some great colors so I figured it couldn’t hurt. I love that they automatically sat down like this!
I know, I know…the heels again. I have issues, ok?
Spotty light can be fun…so can alleys. I left out the pic of what Tim was REALLY doing when he stood next to the pole! Haha.

I scouted out this location a while ago and I had been DYING to try it out. Funny story: I was afraid of trespassing because I didn’t want to get these two in trouble but they were up for it. We didn’t stray far from the sidewalk anyway. But while they were standing up there…they start smiling and pointed at the cop behind me. Luckily everyone was laughing so it was all good.=)
